New Flatbed Cutting Plotters CF3-1610/1631MIMAKI INTRODUCES NEW FLATBED CUTTING PLOTTERS CF3-1610/1631
Featuring three exchangeable cutting heads, among them a new router head, this new plotter series is destined to redefine productivity and ease of use in contour cutting and other finishing tasks.

Mimaki Engineering, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and cutting machines for the sign/graphics, textile/apparel and industrial markets, launches its new series of flatbed cutting plotters CF3-1610 and CF3-1631 with a router head. The machines can cut rigid material up to 1.6 x 3.1 m / 1.6 x 1 m respectively. Late last year, Mimaki introduced the JF-1631 and JF-1610 two new large-size flatbed UV-curable inkjet printers. These printers can print directly on uncoated rigid substrates such as acrylic and plastic.
The introduction of the JF-1631 and JF-1610 and other printers within this series revealed the need for similarly large format machines that cut rigid materials. Large and superwide format flatbed printers have become increasingly popular over the last year.
Printers nowadays do not only want to cut. Contour cutting is one of the new demands large and superwide format print providers have expressed for finishing options for UV-curable inkjet prints. In order to fulfil this and many more wishes printers have Mimaki has developed new flatbed cutting plotters equipped with a router head. These cutters accommodate the same sizes as the JF-series of inkjet printers to enable easy and precise contour cutting of rigid printed materials such as acrylic, aluminium and other substrates.
"We believe the combination of the JF series and CF3 series will contribute to the production of value-added products", says Masafumi Okabe, Division Manager of cutting plotters, Mimaki Engineering Co. Ltd. Rigid materials like acrylic, plastics etc can be cut with a high- speed spindle using the M head. Maximum cutting depth is 50 mm. Optionally endmills are available.
In addition a reciprocating as well as a tangential cutter model are available to provide further finishing options. The reciprocating cutter (R1) enables cutting of corrugated boards, thick and soft materials up to 20 mm in height employing an osculating cutter. Creasing is also available. The set of tools is comprised of a pen/ swivel cutter, reciprocating cutter and creasing roller/high-pressure tangential cutter.
Two different types of tangential cutters (TF2) for rigid and soft materials with a cutting force of up to 5 kg on up to 10 mm thick substrates are available. The TF2 model comes with pen/swivel cutter, tangential cutter and high-pressure tangential cutter. All cutter heads can be easily and quickly exchanged by the user. A colour photo sensor detects the printed registration marks on the substrates regardless of the colour of the substrates. Precise contour cutting can thus be executed by adjusting alignment and distance.
The vacuum table is divided into six zones. Its activated zones can be set according to material size (the 1610 is equipped with two zones). To ease movement and adjustment of heavy materials, the air stream can be reversed.
The new CF3-series is delivered with two software packages enhancing productivity and ease of handling. Mimaki’s Product Manager software is used to set cutting conditions and settle problems with the Wizard functions from a PC-workstation. FineCut 7 provides for creation and import of cutting data from design programmes CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator.
