Dye sublimation printing

In dye sublimation transfer printing, the image is printed onto transfer paper. The type of paper depends on your printer and the output you need. A high speed printer such as the JV5 needs a fast drying transfer paper.

After printing a heat press or a calendar is needed to fix the image onto the substrate. This process causes the dye particles to sublimate. At least 50% of the material needs to be polyester to successfully transfer the image onto the fabric. Hard substrates need to be pretreated with a polymer coating.

Print speeds

The JV5 large format dye sublimation inkjet printers feature 4 staggered print heads (8 lines of 180 nozzles per head) which explains its capabilities in terms of speed.

When printing in 6-colour mode, the speed is approximately 50% lower.

Long print runs with UISS
(Uninterrupted Ink Supply System)

Standard on JV5 is the UISS. This system allows for continuous printing in 4 colour mode. A maximum of 880 cc ink per colour can be loaded at one time. When one ink cartridge runs out, another cartridge begins supplying ink. Ink cartridges can be changed during printing. With 880 cc of ink a 50 m roll of media can be printed without interruption.

Head height adjustment

The thickness of the media is automatically detected and the head height can be adjusted in four steps from 2 mm up to 7 mm to suit the media thickness.

Automatic media feeder (AMF)

The optional automatic media feeder can handle rolls of transfer paper over 100 kg. Also, this heavy take-up system can effectively feed and handle thin flimsy media. The standard media feeder and take-up device can handle rolls up to 38 kg.

JV5-320 is equipped with heavy take-up device as standard.

Stable media feeding

The multi point grid roller system ensures stable feeding of media, which is especially important for long unattended print runs.

High quality and durable inks

The fast drying and high density dye sublimation inkset (SB51 inks) features the four colour process, plus light blue and magenta, and offers incredible vibrant colours with a wide colour gamut, including increased density of black.
