Mimaki Engineering, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and cutting machines for the sign/graphics, textile/apparel and industrial markets, announces the availability of JV33 and JV5 series as aqueous models.

After the successful first year of the solvent JV5-130/160 versions, Mimaki now launches the JV5-130/160 printers as aqueous models for on-demand production of indoor graphics and transfer printing to polyester based materials.

The JV5 aqueous version also features the highest speeds in its class, e.g. 24 sqm/h (JV5-160A) in standard high quality mode. The staggered head array of the four print heads with nozzle failure detection monitors the ink-discharging state from the printing head and detects and cleans clogged nozzles, thus eliminating the waste of media and ink.

Also the recently introduced solvent JV33 series is available as aqueous model. The solvent JV33 version took off with a flying start. Mr. Sagane, Managing director of Mimaki Europe: "The machine is an attractive investment, delivering an excellent mix of high quality output, high speed printing and user friendly operation at an affordable price."

There are two types of aqueous inks available: the new sb51 aqueous dye sublimation features faster drying time to meet the high speed of JV5. Also the ink enhances the print quality; bleeding is not likely to occur and the colour density of especially the black ink is improved. Also the wash- and crock-fastness is improved. The ink can be used for the transfer of prints onto polyester based materials. Operators can now easily output banners, flags, roll screen, hanging displays etc. with the JV5A models or JV33A models. The aqueous pigment ink features a high quality of UV resistance and high colour density. This enables print companies and sign makers to produce indoor graphics, posters, wallpapers, blueback paper and print on backlit film.

Both series' feature the Mimaki's own UISS (uninterrupted ink supply system) which makes it possible to print twice as much in one print run and switch empty cassettes on the fly. Operators don't have to stay next to their machines anymore fearing end of cartridge problems. "With the introductions of the aqueous-ink models and new dye sublimation ink, we can bring new benefits to customers. In addition aqueous inks are environmentally friendly and the new offerings will enhance our customers' portfolios of services greatly", said Shinichi Uehara, Sign & Graphics Division manager.
